( For additional help check out Zortam Forum ). What are differences between internal and external Zortam Mp3 Player? Internal Zortam Mp3 Player [F4] is built in Zortam Mp3 Media Studio Pro and Zortam Mp3 Media Studio Standard as free Mp3 player with visualizations. You can change your default Mp3 Player in [Options] - [General preferences] if you want to use Internal Zortam Mp3 Player (which is free) or any other Mp3 Player that you like. External Zortam Mp3 Player(zPlayer.exe) is totally different product and is not included in Zortam Mp3 Media Studio Pro, and you will need to purchase seperate license if you wish to continue using player after 15 days. What is included in Zortam Mp3 Media Studio Pro is only Internal Zortam Mp3 Player [F4]. How to get lyrics, cover arts (album artwork) and other information from Zortam music database for my iPod? In order to get information from Zortam Music Server(ZIMLIMD) you must have Artist Name and Song Title correctly tagged. If your filename contains information about artist and song name you may use option [Write Tags From Filename] to tag your files. This will fill write tags using information from your Mp3 files. After that just use options [Batch Lyrics and Cover Art Finder] Alt+F3 to get covers and lyrics from ZIMLIMD. Once you have tagged all your Mp3 files use options [Rename files using ID3 tags]. This will rename all your Mp3 files using ID3 information and you can have all your files named on the same way. Once you have lyrics and covers embedded into your Mp3 tags you can just transfer it to your iPod. How can I autotag songs that are playing in Zortam Mp3 Player? Just go to player window and press F5 or right click on player menu and select Zortam AutoTag I would like to backup the music database of Zortam Mp3 Media Studio. But I can't find it. Zortam Mp3 library has *.zor extension. It is located MyDocuments\MyMusic\Zortam Music folder. If you have multiple Zortam mp3 libraries by default they are all saved in \Zortam Music folder. How can I transfer files from Zortam to iPod? You can batch tag your files in Zortam and after that use iTunes to transfer it to your iPod. How to add lyrics and cover arts automatically for my iPod? Select files from the list and go to menu options from [Tools]-[Batch Lyrics and Cover Art Finder]. Using fast access to Zortam multilanguage internet music database (ZMLIMD) you can tag 1000 files within less then a minute. After that just transfer your files to iPod. You can also use options [ID3 Tagging]-[Add art to files from folder picture]. If you want to add cover art manually go to ID3v2 docking window and insert file from your local drive. How to submit lyrics that I can't find to Zortam music database? Click here for here for detail explanation. How do I rip a CD to iPod? Zortam CD Ripper allows you to extract (rip) tracks from an AudioCD using information and track names from the CDDB and will also try to find cover art and lyrics associated with the CD from the Zortam Music Database(ZMLIMD). The lyrics and cover art (if found) will be visible in Windows Media Player, iTunes, iPod and any other portable Mp3 Player that supports lyrics and cover arts via ID3v2 tags. Zortam CD Ripper is part of Zortam Mp3 Media Studio application suite or you can download it as seperate product. For more info check Zortam produtcs page at Zortam Produtcs. Can I create a web page from mp3 list? Yes you can. You should use options Mp3 HTML Export to export selected files as a Web page. You may consider using options Create Lyrics Book, which creates lyrics-cover book in HTML friendly format. You can print a lyrics book if your browser supports CSS2 defined by W3C. How to change volume of normalizad files? You will need to set in General preferences dialog new volume for normalization. Default is 89.0 dB. For example if you wish to increase volume to 98.5 dB, just enter it into Normalization section of General preferences dialog. We suggest you before applying new normalization level to do undo previous normalization of normalized files using UnDo Normalization options from menu. That will return files in previous state before normalization. After that just select files you wish to normalize with new level and that's it. You can always see what is your current normalization level on status bar. Information about last normalization are saved in tag. So be aware when you are doing new normalization to do undo previous normalization. You can normalize already normalized files with new volume, but in that case if volume difference between new and previous normalization is to high you will lost on quality. So our suggestion is normalize your files as many times as you wish but after setting new normalization level first do undo of previous normalization. How do I save the normalized tracks, after the sound volume has been changed? You don't need to save file at all. When you normalize Mp3 file normalization tag is written to the file and file is already normalized. If you want to restore old volume level use Undo Normalize options. How to add album art to mp3 files? You can do it with Zortam Mp3 media Studio manually or automatically. Open ID3v2 window select one of the tabs (front cover, back cover, artist picture or all picture tab), select Mp3 files from the Mp3 list and click on the Load Picture button. Select picture form the folder and it will add picture to ID3V2 tags for selected files. If you want to to batch picture tag update just use in tioll options "Batch Cover Art Finder" What is the difference between ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags? ID3v1 Tags: The ID3v1 tag occupies 128 bytes, beginning with the string TAG. To maintain compatibility with older media players the tag was placed at the end of the file. The small tag size only allowed for 30 bytes for the title, artist, album, and a "comment", 4 bytes for the year, and a byte to identify the genre of the song from a list of 80 values (Winamp later extended this list to 148 values). Long song or album titles were simply truncated. Track number accepts only numeric values(1,2,3) so you can not add leading zero before track number as you can do with ID3v2 tags (0x - 01,02,03). ID3v2 Tags: ID3v2 tags are of variable size, and usually occur at the start of the file, to aid streaming media. They consist of a number of frames, each of which contains a piece of metadata. Frames can be 16MB in length. In the latest ID3v2 standard there are 84 frames, and applications can also define their own. There are standard frames for containing cover art, BPM, copyright and license, lyrics, and arbitrary text and URL data, as well as other things. Way to go: A lot of Mp3s are tagged only with ID3v1 tags so Zortam use options to copy information from ID3v1 to ID3v2 tags. After that you can use information from mp3 filename to fill other tags, batch change and replace options for specific frame, add lyrics,cover arts, normalize mp3's, etc. There are still some old Mp3 players that supports only ID3v1 tags. So we could say ID3v1 is still active because of backword compatibility issues. Today Mp3 Players, iPod, portable Mp3 players are using ID3v2 tags, because you can save to ID3v2 tags text fileds(frames) that are long more then 30 chars, add lyrics, add cover arts (jpg pictures) etc. So solution is simple tag your Mp3's using ID3v2 tags. How can I enter and play karaoke or midi files with Zortam? There is an option in menu Add Karaoke File. You can add .kar or .mid file directly to ID3v2 tag. After adding kar file to the tag it will appear in Karaoke folder. You can select .kar files to play from karaoke folder and play it with your favorite karaoke player. So you can save karaoke files within your Mp3 file and play either Mp3 or Karaoke file. Updating Artwork and Lyrics / iTunes / iPod nano sometimes doesn't work I can update lyrics and artwork on the zortam listing, and each time I get back to a specific song, inside Zortam, everything seems okay. The problem is when I go back to Itunes; over there, songs that have artwork and lyrics, dont get the lyrics recognized; only songs that have only lyrics do. When I go to the ipod (nano), some songs that have artwork, do not show; yet the lyrics of those that show correctly on itunes appear on the ipod screen. If I open a song, with artwork but without lyrics, in Itunes, and paste the lyrics, I am able to see both artwork and lyrics on the ipod. This problem has been fixed with updated version of Zortam Mp3 Media Studio 6.00. You can download updated version from our web site. Now you can save lyrics and cover arts using Zortam Mp3 Media Studio batch lyrics and cover art processing. All lyrics and pictures will be visible in iTunes and also on iPod nano. You can download thousand lyrics and cover arts from the internet using Zortam Mp3 Media Studio within few minutes and they will be available for your iTunes / iPod or any other portable Mp3 player. How can I add cover arts manually with Zortam Mp3 Media Studio? You can do it with Zortam Mp3 media Studio. Just open ID3v2 window select one of the tabs (front cover, back cover, artist picture or all picture tab), select Mp3 files from the Mp3 list and click on the Load Picture button. Select picture form the folder and it will add picture to ID3V2 tags for selected files. There is also Delete picture button so you can delete specific picture type from ID3 Tags, Save picture button so you can save picture from ID3v2 tag to you local hard disk etc. If you wish to remove only lyric there is an option in menu "Delete Lyric From ID3 Tags" which will remove lyric from selected files or if you wish to remove arts from ID3v2 tags use options "Delete Picture From ID3 Tags" which will delete all pictures from ID3v2 tag. You can easily select files with only lyric or arts or any other combination using options from menu Show Tags. Also note that if you adding picture for iPod ( iTunes ) select tab "All Pictures" picture type "Other" because iTunes saves first picture by default us "Other" picture defined by ID3 standard. You can check faq page for explanation about that. How to rip music with mp3(id3) tag? You can do it with Zortam Mp3 media Studio or Zortam CD Ripper. Zortam CD Ripper is included in Zortam Mp3 Media Studio suite or you can buy it a separate product. Zortam CD ripper search CDDB for CD info and allows users to change data retrived by CDDDB before writing ID3 tags and optionally searches for lyric and cover arts from the internet. When you rip CD with Zortam CD Ripper you will have all ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags written together with cover arts and lyrics and ID3 tags are going to be visible on iTunes(iPod), Windows Media Player(WMP), WinAmp and for any other portable Mp3 device that support ID3 tags. So when you are done with ripping just copy your Mp3's to iPod.portable Mp3 player and that's all. See CD Ripper Screnshoot What is ID3v2 tag? 1. The ID3v2 tag is a container format, just like IFF or PNG files, allowing new frames (chunks) as evolution proceeds. 2. Residing in the beginning of the audio file makes it suitable for streaming. 3. Has an 'unsynchronization scheme' to prevent ID3v2-incompatible players to attempt to play the tag. 4. Maximum tag size is 256 megabytes and maximum frame size is 16 megabytes. 5. Byte conservative and with the capability to compress data it keeps the files small. 6. The tag supports Unicode. 7. Isn't entirely focused on musical audio, but also other types of audio. 8. Has several new text fields such as composer, conductor, media type, BPM, copyright message, etc. and the possibility to design your own as you see fit. 9. Can contain lyrics as well as music-synced lyrics (karaoke) in almost any language. 10. Is able to contain volume, balance, equalizer and reverb settings. 11. Could be linked to CD-databases such as CDDB. 12. Is able to contain images and just about any file you want to include. 13. Supports enciphered information, linked information and web links. All my MP3 files have Album Cover (I can see it on Itunes and Ipod 5G) but I do not see any of them in the dedicated Zortam window (ID3V2 tags) ? I can obviously add a new picture but I do not want to redo that for 3500 songs (even if Zortam is really powerful) The rest of the tags are ok ? do you have any idea of what might be the problem? We have resolved this problem with iTunes in version 9.40. iTunes by default saves Album art in ID3 picture tag called Others. In Zortam Mp3 Media Studio go to ID3V2 tags ans select [All Pictures]-[Select Photo], and choose from combobox [Others] and you will be able to see album arts saved via iTunes. ID3 standard has values for picture tags: 0 - Others 3 - Cover Album Art 4 - Back Cover etc. For some reason iTunes saves album art to "Others" picture tag. So all pictures from iTunes are visible in Zortam Mp3 Media Studio at "Others" Picture tag in ID3V2 view. Zortam Mp3 Media Studio saves picture to "Front Cover"(3) picture tag and also to "Others"(0) picture tag, so Album arts are visible on iPod and any other portable Mp3 player. We recomend to use Zortam for batch entering picture arts and lyric to ID3 tags. All arts and lyric entered by Zortam are visible in iTunes and iPod and any other portable Mp3 player. If you save arts with iTunes it will be visible in Zortam as "Others" picture tag. What is difference between Zortam Media Studio FREE and Zortam Mp3 Media Studio PRO? Zortam Media Studio FREE has all features like Zortam Media Studio PRO for 4 days. After 1 day you will need to purchase Zortam Media Studio PRO version in order to continue using PRO features (normalization, etc). We did it this way, because we wanted for our user to be able to see what we offer in PRO version before giving money for it. Once you enter license key for Zortam Mp3 Media Studio PRO you don't need to download program again. All Zortam Mp3 Media Studio PRO options will be available for you! Can I delete only cover arts from my Mp3 files(I need some additional space on my iPod)? You can do it with Zortam Mp3 media Studio. Just select from menu option "Delete Picture from ID3 tags", you can also remove only lyric from your Mp3 with options "Delete lyric from ID3 tags". Both options are supported with multiple mp3 files (batch processing). Sometimes there are files I can play but cannot change anything (even the tags). Those cannot be changed by another tag editor neither. I had to resample them with some prog.? The best thing to do to resolve this problem is to delete the tag entirely and enter information again. Sometimes tags are just corrupted. So you should use the option [Options]->[Clear All ID3 Tags] Do I need to upgrade from Zortam Mp3 Media Studio v1.xx, v2.xx, v3.xx, v4.xx, v5.xx to Zortam Mp3 Media Studio Pro 6? Yes you do, there has been significant improvements between older versions of Zortam Mp3 Media Studio and Zortam Mp3 Media Studio Pro 6 Read more about that and about new features at News section of the web site. There is menu option [Zortam Mp3 Media Studio Pro/Enter Registration Number]. It will open message box and you need just to enter your name & registration number that you received via e-mail. Where to find more information how does work volume normalization of mp3's with Mp3Gain? To find more information how does work normalizitaion of Mp3's with Mp3Gain goto http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/ I would like to clear all comments or replace Album name for some of my Mp3's. How can I do that? Select files you want to change, click on "Change" icon or in main menu select "Change/Clear/Replace Any Tag" , and check "ID3 - All" checkbox, and check chekboxes of tags which you want to change. For example if you want to clear all comment tags check comment chekbox and leave it empty. That will set all comment tags in selected Mp3's to an empty string. When you want to replace some other ID3 tags in your Mp3 the procedure is the same, check the specific checkbox and enter into edit field data you need. I would like to drag&drop Mp3 files from my Mp3 list to exsisting Playlist How can I do that? Just select files you want, press the mouse button and take the the files to the playlist you want. If playlist doesn't exsist it will be created by the name of artist. If artist exsist files will be added to the exsisting artist playlist. I would like to change genre for example to "My Rock", or I want to change some other tag information from selected Mp3's. How can I do that? Select files you want to change, click on "Change" icon or in main menu select "Change/Clear/Replace Any Tag" , and check "ID3v2" checkbox, check "Genre" chekbox and enter in genre field new genre or select from genre list whatever genre you want. How come that ID3v1 tags have limited space for song name, artist name etc. and I can't add my genre? ID3v1 tags has limitation to only 125 available genres. Artist, Title and Comment tags length are limited to max 29 chars. ID3v2 tags doesn't have any limitations for tag length. What does maen green track on my Mp3 file? It does mean that file contains lyrics or some pictures inside of your Mp3 file in ID3v2 tag. Check colors option in Options menu. Why I can not see picture in my Mp3 tag although some other program are showing that picture? First it depends which program are you using. Zortam Mp3 Media Studio uses for saving tags and pictures officially ID3v2.3 standard defined at http://www.id3.org for saving pictures implemented through Id3Lib library(Id3Lib Library). So every picture that is saved from Zortam Mp3 Media Studio should be visible without any problems, because Zortam Mp3 Media Studio supports officially ID3v2.3 standard defined at http://www.id3.org Why Mp3 Media Studio Help doesn't work? To see programs help file you need HTML help installed (it comes with MS Internet Explorer 4.01, Win98 and higher) or you may download the latest version here: Html Help (773 Kb). If you use Win2000 or WinXP Html help is already installed on your system. Are the pictures that have been added to the ID3v2 tag strictly a feature only useable within Zortam MP3 Media Studio? Mp3 Media Studio uses ID3 standard which is defined at http://www.id3.org. So every program that uses ID3 standard( Windows Media Player, iTunes, Winamp) can see the pictures entered with Mp3 Media Studio. When I move the mp3 files to a different folder, the database entries now point to a file that does not exist. I can't delete those faulty entries from the database, that's not good. I think there should be a way to be able to delete entrys from the database, even if they point to a file that does not exist. There is a way to refresh mp3 lib database. Just go to menu options "Search Media" and check "Overwrite library file" checkbox. That will rescan your media drives and create a brand new mp3 lib database. You can also check checkbox "Check if files exists when program starts" in "Program Options" general tab. If this options is checked it will remove all none existing files from the library. When I try to play files listed in my Mp3 Media Studio library they do not play.I highlight the track/song and double click and nothing happens. I have windows xp.with winamp and music jukebox.any ideas? Go to Menu - Options and press General Tab. There is an option called Mp3 Player Path. You just need to enter there a path of your favorite mp3 player. Mp3 Media Studio supports all Mp3 players who can play M3u playlist. How to refresh folder tree in case if new folder is created outside of Mp3 Media Studio? There is a small green icon on the folder tree that does refreshing of folder tree. What operating systems does Mp3 Media Studio support? How to select files from the Mp3 list? To select files in row from the Mp3 playlist use Shift and mouse click to start selection and Shift and mouse click to end selection. To select files that are not in row use Ctrl and mouse click to start position and Ctrl and mouse click to end selection. To select file using keyboard use Ins from the keyboard.
