When I try to run Zortam MP3 Media Studio 10.35 on Windows 7 Home Premium (32-bit), it won’t start. I get a message from Windows saying “MFC Application has stopped working” and it offers to “check online for a solution and close the program” (which returns nothing) or just close the program. It also gives further details that I’ll paste below.
I had a similar problem with version 9.40 some time ago; I was advised to delete the Zortam library folder and all .zor files, and it worked. This time, however, I licensed the latest version and made a fresh install on a recently cleanly reinstalled system. There are no Zortam files in my system yet, as the program was never successfully even started in this new Windows installation, but the error still occurs.
Being an old user, I knew that DirectX and gdiplus.dll had to be installed first (even in Windows 7), and I did that. DirectX is the latest version (released by Microsoft in February 2010); gdiplus is version 5.1.3102.1360 of May 4, 2004 – I don’t know if there is a newer version somewhere. The program is set as “trusted” by my antivirus and HIPS software. I have added zmmspro.exe to the DEP exceptions (though the box appears there, but not the program name). I have tried to run it in Vista and XP compatibility modes, and as administrator. I thoroughly uninstalled it with Revo Uninstaller and reinstalled it (always from an administrative account and with the installer elevated to administrator as well). I also tried installing old version 9.40. Nothing works.
Here is the crash information I get from the error window:
